The restored location beneath the castle will shift the focus of active life in the centre to where it has always been. The real centre of the city will return to its original position and the completion of Podhradie will fully realize the symbolism of the castle as a central point of Bratislava.
Vydrica symbolizes the link between the past and the future of the city – in the most valued space under the castle, and in contact with the Danube. Bratislava was formed over a long period of time, and Vydrica has always been an integral part of it. After its revival, it will rejoin the divided historical centre of Bratislava. Vydrica has long been the missing link in the city structure, the main hub which – when completed – will open up the huge potential of the whole of central Bratislava.
