The popular specialty coffee shop will open its third location in Vydrica. The owners promise a unique “coffee laboratory” where they’ll continue to explore coffee. Their legendary “surreal” gin and tonics, craft beers, iconic cakes, sandwiches, and original non-alcoholic drinks will also continue to be featured. And, of course, an atmosphere and space where you can be yourself. OST BLOCK will open in Vydrica in May of this year.
Behind the established OST BLOCK brand are three young Bratislavans — Camilla Kelényová, Wolfgang Schmusch, and Viliam Thurzo, who believe that every good location needs its specialty coffee shop and a safe cultural-social space.
“To be honest, we weren’t planning to open a third OST BLOCK in Slovakia, but we were really drawn to the uniqueness of the Vydrica project. We love travelling to Scandinavia, and Vydrica reminds us of residential neighbourhoods in central Oslo and Copenhagen, both in its visual appeal and philosophy,” revealed Camilla Kelényová. The project’s location near the Danube was also crucial in their decision. “Having a specialty coffee shop with a view of the Danube is a dream come true that we didn’t even know we had,” said Camilla, who also appreciates the excellent cooperation with the developer.
The first OST BLOCK opened on Blumentálska Street in Bratislava in 2020, just as the pandemic began. They weathered it thanks to the community that formed around the café. In 2022, the second location, Dark OST BLOCK, opened in the Prior department store at Kamenné Square. In this legendary “Bratislava hexagon,” it functions not only as a specialty coffee shop, but also as a “community-cultural playground” that gives space to independent culture.
In addition to high quality coffee from well-known Slovak roasters, the third OST BLOCK will bring to Vydrica a place to relax, meet, and work remotely — not just for residents of the new district below the castle, but also for visitors. “OST BLOCK is a judgment-free zone where we respect diversity and support authentic experiences. Nobody will give you strange looks if you order a drink at eight in the morning, or a batch brew at eight in the evening,” the owners agreed. They also plan to host pop-ups by local brands, public coffee cuppings, and other surprises.
OST BLOCK has behind it an exceptional and supportive community that will surely also come to love Vydrica. It will be open from eight in the morning until midnight.
