A single impulse may be enough to turn your life upside down. Lucia worked as a teacher in the UK for four years and her brother’s impulse encouraged her to return to her hometown. With her brother, she set off for uncharted waters and opened the original Grizzly Tacos, which became a hit in the city.
They just felt that there was no similar restaurant in Bratislava. “Mexican cuisine is very diverse and extremely varied in terms of taste and colour. What I love most are people’s faces when they eat and like it. When they shut their eyes after the first bite and feel like they were back in Mexico,” says Lucia with a smile.
And when they are not working? Their favourite places are near the Danube. “We have always gone to the waterfront. First with parents for walks and later we sat in the old Propeler with friends. We like its energy.” They also like the cosy Riva Bar right on the pontoon. “It is our favourite. The terrace has a great atmosphere, fantastic staff, excellent music and superb drinks and snacks,” they are full of praise.
And the most favourite street? “It’s impossible to choose one. I really like every single back alley that has a soul and history,” she confessed.
“If Bratislava were a person, she would be a young lady who loves life, believes people, but often suffers the consequences. Her soul is wounded, but she has beautiful memories. She has the potential to be better, but she works on herself, so she is persistent and devoted. But I think she is underrated. Simply a young lady with many faces.”
