You enter and find yourself in a different world. A gentle head bow and a handshake. You are welcome by Erik Mucska, a co-founder of the Maximilian Mucska Tailors, a family tailor’s shop that specialises in the most elegant men’s fashion. Welcome to the world of dinner jackets, tailcoats and suits.
“I am trying to cultivate the traditional tailor’s craft in Bratislava, but also in Slovakia. My goal is to co-create tangible values associated with human arts and crafts,” explains Erik, for whom this honest craft is a passion. And it’s obvious. The shop’s clients include personalities from the whole social spectrum: actors, artists, doctors, bankers and scientists.
“What I enjoy most about my everyday work is getting up in the morning. I love opening the shop’s squeaky doors in the morning. Those doors keep bringing new challenges to my working and personal life,” says Erik who fell in love with Grösslingova street and its cafés, bars, shops and studios.
“I like sitting on the corner of Klemensova street in the “U Kubistu” bistro. What I most like about it is the mix of food and people,” says Erik, praising life in Bratislava. He continues: “It is a city for everyone with a desire to create and live in an open society that accepts diversity among people.”
