Cleansed of modern masonry and inferior structures and with a new layer embedded, the historical structure becomes part of public life – an icon that can be walked through. It serves as a stage set for the amphitheatre, an ever-changing gallery, and a vantage point. Bringing life back to this historical site, installing a new pavilion and landscaping naturally creates a diversity of atmospheres and uses of the space.
The actively structured public space and the proposed revival of the historical monument will make it possible to use this area year-round. In spring, the venue can host the Bratislava City Days, the Summer Shakespeare Festival in summer, the White Night in autumn, and the Christmas Market in winter. The year-round concept of the water feature reflects the history of the city – a ford and the Water Tower. The water enhances the location by taking various forms during the year – as a cooling and refreshing element in summer and as an ice rink in winter.
